Solar for Habitat Homeowners
Habitat for Humanity Virginia and GiveSolar partner with local and state-level Habitat organizations to install rooftop solar arrays for free or at a low cost to Habitat families. Since 2021, the Habitat Virginia Solar Program has installed solar panels on 92 Habitat homes in Virginia, saving families an average of $73 per month on their electricity bills. In January 2026, 20+ other Habitat State Support Organizations will join Habitat Virginia and GiveSolar to launch the National Habitat for Humanity Solar Program, which aims to serve 10,000 Habitat families in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.

ReStores
ReStores are non-profit home improvement stores that directly support local Habitat for Humanity efforts. All ReStores are open to the public, so anyone can shop from our inventory of used (and sometimes new) goods, at a fraction of standard retail prices. ReStores accept donated material from building contractors, manufacturers, and the general public, keeping tons of waste out of landfills each month. With 20+ ReStore locations across Virginia it's easy to support Habitat, get a great bargain, and reduce waste.
AmeriCorps
AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) and Direct Service provides an opportunity for individuals to serve full-time with Habitat for Humanity to help meet the housing needs of individuals all over the state. AmeriCorps members fulfill a variety of roles including resource development, capacity building, onsite construction, or volunteer management.
If you are interested in dedicating a year or two of your life to service, you can find full listings of AmeriCorps openings in Virginia and apply here.
