Assistance for Homebuyers
Habitat for Humanity Virginia works with Habitat homebuyers to reach their downpayment savings goals through a variety of strategies. HFHVA also serves as the statewide administrator for the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development’s down payment assistance funds. For more information on this program, including eligibility, visit DHCD’s website.
Virginia Affordable Housing Loan Fund
Habitat for Humanity Virginia's lending arm supports local Habitat organizations by offering low-interest financial products to make capital more accessible for affordable housing developers. Learn more about VAHLF on its website.

Advocacy
As a recognized statewide leader and strong voice on the housing crisis, Habitat for Humanity Virginia has successfully pushed for programs and policies at the Virginia General Assembly. Habitat Virginia was a leader in establishing both the Virginia Housing Trust Fund and the Virginia Statewide Community Land Trust. We also played a critical role in the launch of a down payment assistance pilot program targeting families under 60% of area median income ("AMI").
Grant Writing and Fundraising Support
Habitat for Humanity Virginia staff support local Habitat organizations with grant writing assistance and other fundraising resources to ensure those local chapters can maximize their impact. Since 2005, Habitat Virginia has conveyed over $38 million to local Habitat organizations across the Commonwealth.

Statewide Conference and Training
Habitat for Humanity Virginia provides training and professional development for local Habitat organizations. For example, Habitat Virginia staff offer support and staff training as new staff members join local Habitat chapters. Habitat Virginia also organizes a biannual conference that attracts local Habitat organizations from across the Mid-Atlantic region.
Support for Local Chapters
At the care of Habitat for Humanity Virginia's mission is to support local Habitat organizations and empower them to have a larger impact. This support comes in many forms, including resource sharing, best practices, guidance, and research support. Ultimately, local Habitat chapters feel like they have extra staff members to rely on for help.
