Over 600 Riders Turn Out for Ride VA 09 - PHOTOS!!!!

Saturday April 18th was a picture perfect day for a motorcycle ride. The sunny spring day set the stage for this year’s 4th Annual Ride Virginia Bike Rally and Poker Run. Eight affiliates from across the state held events! Every corner of the state was covered from Wise to Winchester to South Hampton Roads.

Saturday morning bikers from all over the state (including a group that traveled from the Eastern Shore all the way to Hanover!) set out toward the various affiliates’ start locations. What they had in store was a day riding along some of the most beautiful highways and byways the Commonwealth has to offer. Over 600 bikers turned out to support Habitat’s effort to provide safe, decent and affordable housing to low-income families in Virginia.

A few hours and hundreds of miles later, prizes were awarded at the finish lines to those riders with the best (and worst) poker hands. This was one of many exciting finish line festivities that included food, raffles, music, vendors from the community and the celebration of Habitat’s mission!

At every event site, Habitat staff, volunteers, community partners, Habitat homeowners and bikers collaborated to make the event a success. Long-time Habitat supporters rode alongside people who heard about Habitat’s mission for the first time ever at Ride Virginia. An overall success, each affiliate who participated raised money to build more homes and raised awareness to create more Habitat partners and supporters throughout Virginia.
